Austin Health Commons is dedicated to community ownership of health and health care while healing in our communities from a root cause perspective.
Austin Health Commons takes health where it happens – in our homes, our places of worship, our workplaces, our community centers — while elevating our awareness of the systemic factors which impact our health behaviors.
Our Commons will own our prototype center, Karisha Community Center for Wellness, and we will offer the opportunity for community to own shares of our health center so that the profits of health and health care benefit community.
Through individual action, community cultivation and designed ownership structures, we are shifting to community ownership of health and health care.
While our prototype center, Karisha Community Center for Wellness will support an individual’s innate capacity to heal and thrive, Austin Health Commons supports our community’s innate inclination to heal and thrive.
